Also appeal for Pipe born water and solar street lights.
The people of Ogo-Oluwayo community in Etikan ward Ilaje Local Government Ondo State has called on the Ondo State Government, NDDC and OSOPADEC to come to their aid by renovating the primary school in their community which have dilapidated and suffered total neglect for long.
At the community meeting held in the church auditorium, between the PTA members and the community Elders, the people of the community express their dissatisfaction over the long time neglect of the community by the STATE GOVERNMENT, NDDC and OSOPADEC.
They said “for the primary school, the building is nothing to write home about. Our children are not going to school during raining season because of the linking of the roof and the fear of heavy wind which sometimes shake the building roof during heavy down pour. No chairs and tables for the pupils to sit and write. No modern primary school textbooks, no VIP toilet for staff and pupils. We’ve been contributing funds to fixe some parts of the building over the years. The level of damage is now beyond our ability.”
“Not only that, the school also need teaching staff. We’re tired of beg and pay to teach in our school”
Aside the challenges of the school which the community is facing, the community have also express their worries over lack of drinkable water in the entire community. One of the elders who spoke during the meeting said “as we speak, aside the school problem, we also have the problem of getting potable water to drink. We drink from the well that produces water directly under ground. Despite that the said well water is not good for human health, we managed to drink it because we have no choice. This have pose serious threat to our health. Despite that we drink the water out of no choice, the said water is not even enough to serve the entire community of over 5,000 houses. In the dry season, the well doesn’t produce enough water, except we wait for twelve hours before we can be able to fetch from the well again.”
The community further said, that if Government intervene by constructing borehole for them, it will serve both the community and the school. Because the only well they have is about 1KM away from the school access.
The community also seized the opportunity to call on the NDDC, OSOPADEC and STATE GOVERNMENT for solar street lights. Because their people have been experiencing criminal activities in the streets at night. They make references to the vandalized step down transformer, and cable wires in the community, that the perpetrators came in the night to carry out their unlawful activities.
Finally, having critically discussed their challenges in the community, the head of the community PRIMATE DR. C.I IKUESAN hereby appeal to HIS EXCELLENCY HON. DR. LUCKY ORIMISAN AIYEDATIWA THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF ONDO STATE and THE NDDC COMMISSIONER REPRESENTING ONDO STATE IN THE BOARD OF NDDC HON. OTITO ATIKASE and the CARETAKER CHAIRMAN OF OSOPADEC PRINCESS ABIKE ILAWOLE and also the CHAIRMAN HOUSE COMMITTEE ON SOCIAL AFFAIRS AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT HON. PRINCESS OLAWUMI FAYEMI-OBAYELU MHA ILAJE CONSTITUENCY 2 not to neglect them like previous administrations. And are confident that the O’DATIWA O’DIRORUN motor and the RENEW HOPE MANTRA will favour their community under the watch of Governor Lucky ORIMISAN AIYEDATIWA.
