Vice President Kashim Shettima and Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, have arrived in London to receive the remains of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on Sunday at the age of 82. They were received by Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, and other high-ranking officials.
The Nigerian delegation is in London to escort Buhari’s body back to Nigeria for burial in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State. President Bola Tinubu directed Shettima and Gbajabiamila to lead the delegation and ordered national flags to fly at half-staff for seven days as a mark of respect for the departed leader.
Buhari’s burial is expected to take place today in Daura, with President Tinubu and other dignitaries likely to attend. The government has begun making arrangements for the funeral, with security and logistics being coordinated between federal and state authorities.
