To the attention of the public, especially our esteemed leaders and the management of the electricity distribution company,
We, the residents of Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area, are compelled to bring to your notice the exorbitant electricity bills that have become a significant burden on our households. It has come to our attention that many of us are being charged as high as N6,000 to N7,000 per house, which is unsustainable and unacceptable. We understand that electricity is a vital service, but the current billing system seems to be unfair and disproportionate to the service provided. In many cases, the electricity supply is erratic, and we are not getting the value for our money. The frequent power outages and limited hours of supply do not justify the astronomical bills we are being asked to pay.
We humbly plead with the relevant authorities to review the billing system and adjust the tariffs to a more reasonable and affordable level. We believe that a fair and reasonable charge would be in the range of N1,000 to N2,000 per house, considering the current state of electricity supply in our area. Furthermore, we urge the electricity distribution company to improve the reliability and consistency of the power supply. We expect a minimum of 12 hours of electricity supply daily, with a stable and consistent power flow. The current practice of frequent outages and limited hours of supply is not acceptable, and we demand better.
We urge everyone to join us in calling for a fair and reasonable electricity billing system. We deserve a better deal, and we will not be silenced. Let us work together to ensure that our voices are heard and our concerns are addressed.
We demand:
– A review of the electricity billing system to reflect the actual consumption and service provided
– A reduction of electricity bills to a reasonable and affordable level (N1,000 – N2,000 per house)
– Improved reliability and consistency of power supply (minimum 12 hours daily)
