To prevent minor and major security breaches and ensure safety of lives and properties within our homes, especially during this difficult days, we must ensure to observe the following before going to bed every night:
1. That our mobile phones are at least, 50% charged and loaded with at least #100 recharge card.
2. Ensure that the phone contacts of our next door neighbors, community leaders, Divisional Police Officer (DPO) or any other helpful contacts are still saved on our phone.
3. Ensure that every member of our household, neighbors and community have a whistle each.
4. Make sure all security lights are still on and working perfectly.
5. If you have a CCTV camera, check to ensure their visibility and functionality.
6. Ensure that your gates and doors are properly locked.
7. If you are using electric cooker, make sure to disconnect it from the socket and if you are using a gas cooker, ensure to properly lock it and avoid any gas leakage.
8. Avoid leaving your indoor lights on when going to bed.
9. Make sure that no harmful object or instrument is left within your compound or doorstep.
10. Communities must ensure that noise making machines like generators are switched off early enough so that community members can hear emergency calls or signals easily.
11. If you have a security dog, ensure your dog is in good shape and free to move around your compound.
12. Avoid too much alcohol to maintain both physical and mental alertness.
Above all, we must ensure to go to bed early enough since early to sleep is early to wake. Doing this will keep us awake and at alert mostly at midnight hours when the evil minded ones usually perpetrate their evil deeds. It is also important that we pray and commit the night into the proctective hands of God, the undisputed Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the whole universe.
