
In line with the approval of Ondo State Governor ,His Excellency, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, relevant stakeholders from the grassroots were given the opportunity to contribute to the 2025 local government budget. Under the leadership of Honorable Toyin Ogungbure Agbeni, the Chairman of ILAJE Local Government, a town hall meeting was organized to involve the political class, traditional rulers, artisans, youths, farmers, market women, the CAN chairman, and the chief imam in Ilaje Local Government for their input on the budget.
This bottom-up approach to the budget preparation process allows grassroots participation in the government’s planning of projects and execution of activities.
During the event, Mr. [Director’s Name], the Director of Budget, Research, and Statistics, presented the details of the revenue inflows to Ilaje Local Government from all sources for the mid-year. The targeted revenue for the year 2025 is [amount] billion.
In response to the analysis, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Segun Williams Akinyomi, the Amapetu of Mahinland and Chairman of the Council of Obas in Ilaje Local Government, through his representative, Dr Ola Judah Akinyomi, advised the council and stakeholders to improve the local government’s internally generated revenue (IGR). He also suggested that community leaders take ownership of any projects to be executed in their domains for proper accountability, maintenance, and security. Furthermore, he requested the creation of a garage at Ipare Market to ease traffic congestion, cleanliness of the local government, renovations of primary schools, and the provision of life jackets to local fishermen. Other speakers who shared their knowledge with stakeholders include Dr. Ibukun Omotehinse, Honorable Oyebo Aladetan, Honorable Mekuleyi, and others.
In her speech, the Chairman of Ilaje Local Government, Honorable Toyin Ogungbure Agbeni, expressed appreciation for every contribution made during the budget presentation and promised to fulfil her duties diligently with the continued engagement and support of the stakeholders. She urged every community to list and submit priority projects to the local government for consideration.
