This gesture comes almost two years after his demise, which occurred on August 29, 2023, at the age of 87.
The presentation was made by the Director General of the National Orientation Agency, Lanre Issa-Onilu, accompanied by the Oyo State Director of the agency, Olukemi Afolayan.
According to Issa-Onilu, the donation was not to pay for Akinkunmi’s services but to support his family in appreciation of his contributions to the country.
One of Akinkunmi’s sons, Akinwunmi Akinkunmi, expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the gesture.
However, some Nigerians have criticized the government for not recognizing Akinkunmi’s contributions while he was alive.
