In my charge, I urged the new CG to reflect on the history of the service, and ensure he works assiduously to lead it to greater success.
While assuring him of my support, I encouraged him to harness the knowledge and expertise acquired through his extensive training, with particular emphasis on the mandatory in-service courses he has undertaken.
Once again, it is important to emphasize that leadership is not a popularity contest. And, that our responsibility as leaders is not to take people to where they want to be but where they ought to be.
Therefore, I hope that the new CG will uphold the trust of Mr President, and by extension the trust of Nigerians while discharging his duties as the number one (1) service man of our fire agency.
I have no doubt in his capacity to lead, but what is germane is for him to channel it towards fostering a visionary and transformative leadership approach —one that will invigorate the Federal Fire Service, as well as enhance its capacity to safeguard lives and property.
