The Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Empowerment and Job Creation, in collaboration with the Ondo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun Corps), successfully hosted a strategic youth engagement meeting at the Amotekun Area Office in Ondo City. The session brought together youth stakeholders from across the Ondo Central Senatorial District for an impactful dialogue on the rising concerns of insecurity in the region.
The meeting, which took place in a highly participatory atmosphere, served as a vital platform for open discussions on pressing security challenges faced by communities within the senatorial district. Stakeholders, including youth leaders, community representatives, and security personnel, deliberated extensively on the roles of young people in strengthening community vigilance and fostering peace and safety.
In his opening remarks, the Senior Special Assistant on Youth Empowerment and Job Creation emphasized the administration’s commitment to empowering the youth as key stakeholders in the security architecture of the state. He highlighted the need for proactive collaboration between the youth and security agencies in intelligence gathering, neighborhood watch efforts, and community policing.
The Amotekun Corps Commander, at the meeting, reiterated the Corps’ readiness to work hand-in-hand with youth volunteers, noting that intelligence from the grassroots remains one of the strongest tools in combating crime and criminality.
At the end of the meeting, actionable solutions were proffered to enhance security in the senatorial district. These included the creation of local youth security watch groups, engagement in regular security sensitization programs, and support for community-led initiatives aimed at crime prevention.
The meeting concluded with a renewed call for unity, vigilance, and responsible youth participation in safeguarding lives and property. All attendees expressed their commitment to sustained collaboration in the ongoing efforts to ensure peace, safety, and development across Ondo Central.
